Optimum G
Today I finally signed up for the three day Optimum G seminar being held at the PRI show in Orlando. Its a Vehicle Dynamics and Racecar Engineering seminar.
I have known Claude (and his son) for quite a while now as we bump into each other at various race tracks, but now have officially signed up for his seminar.
Anyone else here been to one of these before?
I am going with three other coworkers, should be fun.

Chris Cervelli took a course from him. You should contact Chris.

WOW, looks really interesting. I am not sure I'd understand everything and since I do not race would have no use for the info but still I am sure there is a lot of interesting things to learn.

I went thru his seminar a few years back and had some friends take it back in May. It has changed quite a bit since I did it, but that's a good thing. It is definitely intensive as there is a ton of material and relatively short time to cover it all, but Claude keeps it lively so its not too bad. He's got tons of stories and anecdotes from all the experience he's got and most are hilarious.
Don't remember exactly what all changed in the latest seminar but it was something along the lines a large addition of data analysis between driver A and B to find a)time in setup and b)time in the driver. Along with a bunch of new testing techniques and technologies.

I'm bummed that I had already made plans with the family before I saw the seminar. Oh well, Rennlist get together at PRI?

Just back from Orlando today. The seminar was indeed awesome explaining many things I have always wanted to know. Great stuff.
Each of the three days was 13-14 hours, but I never wanted each day to end. Claude does a great job at teaching, and he is very very passionate about what he teaches. He makes certain everyone 'gets it', so to speak.
Now to conitnue mapping geometry on the 993

I was in Orlando this past week for the PRI Motorsports tradeshow as saw many cool things and learned quite a bit about newer friction reducing processes.
One thing that I found that I needed to take a picture of, was these brakes..
See the sign for their sizes, unbelievable. Would the spare tire fit over these?

Its 400 pages of goodness. Its a lot to go over, but you need to spend the next 6-12 months (if not years lol) studying each section and understanding exactly how to take advantage of all the information

The class was excellent and Claude could have taught 19-20 hours per day if we let him. The only thing that disappoints me is the large 5" thick binder. It doesn't have many words around the formulas, so going back to it is very difficult, especially when trying to put it into context.

I would agree, one needs to use this material often. There is a large percentage of folks (mostly FSAE students) who take the course again.
Having access to a chassis sim like Adams, Reynards E-Lap or his own Optimum K would help.
Claude also offers a 12 day course for $7k IIRC. No handout, just use your own laptop.

I think it helps a lot if you have been using data for a while (especially MoTeC) - it makes the course much clearer. I agree on the lack of notes in the handout - if anyone takes the class, you should take lots of notes in the notebook.
