RZ-HP3 SuperHelmet
RZ-HP3, B2Z Racing’s latest Super helmet and first helmet in the world to meet the new FIA 8860 Standard.
Since July 1, 2004 FIA-8860 is mandatory in Formula One Racing. This standard is intended to improve overall helmet performance to suit the needs of Formula 1. For maximum safety, the B2ZRZ-HP3 features a pure carbon shell using autoclave technology, combined with a specific expanded carbon polystyrene energy absorbing liner. Tests show that in certain impacts, the B2ZRZ-HP3 absorbs up to 40 percent more energy than is required by FIA-8860 standard.
FIA 8860 approved with Hans® device clips.
The B2Z RZ-HP3 weighs only 1300 grams (+/- 5%), making it the one of the lightest and the safest helmet actually available in the world for automobile racing
Meets or Exceeds Snell SA-2005 and FIA-8860
Racer price - $3,000.00

The FP3 is even less expensive and only slightly heavier.

Dude, I was joking!
My Bell M3 was a tank compared to my OMP Vision I did notice the weight difference at the end of the day.

Please keep in mind that how the weight is distributed around the helmet will make a difference. Helmet X and Y may weight the same, but helmet X may put more sprain on your neck.

We did a little study this afternoon and weighed and tried on some helmets we had in stock. All of these were in size Large.
Gforce Proforce 1 - 4 lbs.
Pyrotect full face - 4 lbs.
OMP speed & Grand Prix - 4 lbs.
Bell M3 - 3.5 lb
Arai gp5w - 3.5 lb
When trying all of these helmets on, I was surprised to discover that even though the Bell M3 is lighter than the OMPs, the OMPs actually felt lighter on the head and the liners were much nicer - comparable to Arai. The OMP and Arai fit very similar even though there is a half pound weight difference. I really didn't notice it as both OMP and Arai are weighted so that the bulk of the weight of the helmet is in the chin area to evenly distribute the weight of the helmet.
Stand 21 is supposed to be one of the lightest weight helmets out there but you'll pay for it. Unless you are running Lemans and wearing the helmet for hours on end, I would go with OMP or Arai (from my experience).

Gforce Proforce 1 - 4 lbs. - $249.99
Pyrotect full face - 4 lbs. - $248.45
OMP speed & Grand Prix - 4 lbs. - Speed $650, Grand Prix $670 - predrilled for Hans
Bell M3 - 3.5 lb - $559 - can be ordered predrilled for Hans at extra cost
Arai gp5w - 3.5 lb - $799.95 - predrilled for Hans
Stand21 (supposed to be extremely lightweight but don't know actual weight) - $1,000 to $1,200 range. predrilled for Hans
Some helmet manufacturers do not post actual weights of their helmets as they may vary in manufacturing (hand lamination) but the weights above are based on what we have in stock in size Large. Obviously, a size small helmet may weigh slightly less than an XL sized helmet.
As posted earlier, even though a helmet weighs less, it may not be as comfortable (on average they are with our experience but it also depends on the construction and liner quality of the helmet).
Sometimes it pays to actually go to your local speed shop and try them on - what one person calls comfortable may not be comfortable to someone else. Folks at the store are usually trained to help you get a properly fitted helmet. If you don't have the luxury of having a store nearby, we can answer questions or possibly direct you to a fellow dealer in your area that may be able to help.

Nice... thanks. Pretty crazy that the .5lb and a HANS mount costs almost 200% more....
I bought the Pro Force 1 earlier this year and have been happy so far in DE use.
