Default helmet painting for DE. Rediculous or fun

I really enjoy the painted helmets out there. I don't race but do a lot of DEs. What do you think of my painting my helmet. No advertising of course. I've got the equipment and figure I can design something cool, but is it over the top for DE? I'm anticipating , but thanks for honest responses.

I was thinking of putting a MayTag decal on mine since it is just plain ole refrigerator white. Knock yourself out, have fun with it and just remember it won't make you any faster round the track.

Of course you should do it if that's what you want to do. If anyone asks "what's the point", you could also ask "what's the point of DE?"
We're all in this for fun!

I vote for a full out paint job. DE's are for fun and you should enjoy every aspect of it. I'll get my helmet painted when I can figure out what to put on it. Looks like your helmet should have some form of cheese on it. Isn't that the state bird of Wisconsin?

Yup, go for it. As has been said, it's all about fun. I want to, but it's too much money just for fun to have it done. Wish I had your skills to do it. And, it DOES make you faster on the track .

The state bird of Wisconsin is the mosquito. Here in La Crosse we even have our own strain of Encephalitis.

What type of paint should be used on a helmet? I seem to remember something about certain paints harming helmets.

Mine was a (surprise) gift from my wife and kids. They did it over the winter and when I went nuts trying to find my helmet in the spring (I'm always losing stuff), this is what I found:

(big fan of Ren & Stimpy, RoadRunner & Coyote).

It was done by Bullseye Visual out in Indiana.

Painted helmet for DE? Why not, sounds like a great, fun idea. Your not racing, so what. Sport Bike riders paint their helmets. Paint it, maybe I should turn my wife loose on my refrigerator style.

Yes there is a specific paint that must be used for helmets. Check with your helmet manufacturer for instructions before painting. Mine is acrylic enamel. You can only get it at auto painting supply stores at a minimum of $30 to $35 a color.
