The first Carrera GT prototype:

And this car has a LMP 2000 chassis number!

First, the link:
http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/2359...w_lot/4978143/

Then the explanations.
4 cars were produced for the racing factory drivers after Le Mans 1987. These were a kind of 928 Club-Sport pre-productions (the 928 CS was introduced 6 months later and was not finalized when these cars were made).
The cars were produced for Jöchen Mass, HJ Stuck, Bob Wollek and Derek Bell.
This is Sir Bell's former car and it was not modified since he sold it.

All cars were nearly indentical and except the Wollek's car, they have survived. I still need to find the Wollek's car.

The good news, for the US Citizens is that is old enough now to be registered in your country.

Just let me know if you want more information.

This is sitting at Canepa's:: up close it looks like a poorly designed replica, kit car. All proportions are off, looks plasticky.. Really bad in real life.

I wonder if this the same car that was on display during the Paris Auto show, in 2000.
This one was really clean and well made!

Make your choice between these two beasts:
https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car...rs/1993/402049

https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car...t2/1995/402002

For me, it would be the 964 RS 3.8.

'94 turbo Flachbau sold at Gooding is pretty covetable b/c of the low miles.

Wasn't me, the only car that I bid on at the various auctions last week was the AM Vulcan at Mecum, but as I was the only real money on it and the auctioneer was chandelier bidding it trying to make the reserve, it didn't sell.

I got a vibe it might be you when they announced the rarity and the fact it sounded like it had delivery miles.
