My 918 assembly line visit (lots of photos)
Last week I got an opportunity to visit second one of my 918 cars on the assembly line (first one was built during a busy week for me, couldn't go)
Here are some pics of our trip with comments:
1) Flying into the sunset. GF's X4 in the foreground.
2) Everything on the plane is controlled through an iPod app:
.
3) Mach 0.85, ALT 43000, Autopilot
4) Hello Stuttgart, thank you for the wonderful weather!
5) Our shuttles during our stay: Panamera Turbo in Grey Black and Panamera Turbo S in Black.
6) Porsche Exclusive visit. Sorry, no photos allowed.
7) 918 themed lunch @ Christophorus - it was free... And they say there is no such thing as free lunch - just have to buy a 918!
...
8) 918 assembly line visit. Sorry, no photos allowed except for my car:

.
10) Flying back home, catching up on latest RL gossip
also visited Porsche Classic and Porsche Museum as well as Mercedes Benz Museum... not a lot of good photos from those places.
pretty cool trip overall... now the wait for the 918 to be delivered begins.
11) and in closing, a small puzzle... We saw this button when sitting in the back of an Audi A8. The button is for the back seat passenger to press (the one sitting diagonally from the driver). None of us, including the driver, knew what it was for. Anybody got any ideas what this button is for? I have a theory after googling around, but still don't know with 100% certainty what this button is for:

I believe that button shuts off the interior monitoring part of the alarm. In case you wanted to lock the car with a child or pet inside the car

Awesome, but I'm having trouble deciding to hate you more because you are getting your 2nd 918 or because you fly internationally on a Global.....
Regardless, big congratulations!!!

the car goes through 20 stations at 2 hours a piece. There are all kinds of hours putting together the parts etc to have the parts available at the stations.
To compare, the 911 stations the techs have 3:30m to work on the car. Big difference. Granted, there are a lot more stations but the 918 is a hand built car by highly skilled techs.
