Baby blue 918 Spyder

Agree - the car is too aggressive and modern for those PTS.
The liquid colors are the way to go - hopefully a bundle of them are ordered for us 2nd hand bottom fish.
Haven't seen the blue - monopoly money would prefer this look. As far as the price we use liquid pearl paints often during tenant finish work and it takes 6 coats vs 2 at 15 times greater cost per gallon.
No idea why Porsche went off the deep end - 32k would have been plenty offensive.

Secondly, what you you mean by "off the deep end...." - what was the PTS option cost? For some reason I thought it was 24k, but you mention "32 would have been plenty offensive" implying it was more? Or did I completely misread this?

First off, that car looks gorgeous. The contrast between the paint and the accents is outstanding. Secondly, what you you mean by "off the deep end...." - what was the PTS option cost? I don't understand the big premium Porsche is charging for PTS or Liquid metal.

Liquid metal has a 10 layer process, so the extra labour alone is a big chunk of the price.
PTS on the 918 means they have to spend time testing the primer then the paint to see if they work well on the carbon panels, a primer/paint combo might look good on aluminum, but may not turn out well on carbon fibre.

With regard to the Liquid colours, the actual paint cost is very expensive, due to the mineral content. Its the same type as used in the small holograms on c-cards, around 2.5kGBP. Per Ltr

'Liquid Metal', 'Oryx' & PTS
It's 'Oryx White Pearl Effect' (not Onyx), first of all. See attached photos.
oryxweiß perlmutteffekt C9A 0K01 / Oryx White Pearl Effect C9A 0K01
And that is double the normal price on PTS for a 991/981. So US$11,000 instead of US$5,500. Normal PTS in a 918 is in the $20K's (I was told $21,000 recently by a 918 customer & member of this forum). So it would not surprise me if PAG would charge $42K for PTS 'Oryx White' on a 918. But most other PTS colors would be $21K...or so. The two Liquid Metal colors for $63K ('Silver' & 'Chrome Blue') are not PTS. They are 'Special Colors' offered to anyone ordering a 918 Spyder (base) and appears as such in the configurator.
We discussed the reason for the high cost of the two 'Liquid Metal' offerings on the 918 on this forum before. Please take a look:

This color is NOT what most observers acquainted with traditional & vintage Porsche colors would call 'Baby Blue'. It's a deeper, medium blue that, as Mile2424 has said, could very well be either 'Riviera Blau' or 'Mexico Blau'. Camera lenses, filters & lighting are notorious for distorting colors on photos...but I am going to guess that this PTS 918 is 'Mexico Blau' and we will await confirmation from the owner or some other official source.
Traditionally, a 'Baby Blue' hue would be associated in a Porsche with 'Gulf Blue' (a vintage color currently available on the 991/981 as PTS) or 'Meissen Blue' (Available in the past as PTS on the 997...and a standard on the 1957-1959 Porsche 356).
