As promised.

May well not be a genuine UK original car but look at the asking price of 320K GBP as compared to the near 600 being quoted on this thread.

As regards US to UK spec conversion is probably around 5K for front bumper if you don't like the side markers plus 4K for front headlights. Rear bumper doesn't need to be replaced just fog light changed. The red LEDs in the tail lamps can be changed for orange ones for less than the 4k needed for new rear lamps. However if you go to Porsche reading the only official UK service agents they will insist on all of this work be done.ie new front and back bumpers, front and rear lights.
A little strange. The ad description states 3.0 liter engine! Is this a typo or they have the wrong picture for a different model???

Wrong engine size.

Was definitely a CGT. I know because a friend rang up to put down a deposit but was too late..

Apparently a clean car with no adverse history according to the dealer.

There must have been something wrong with the car on Autotrader, a good friend off mine has been actively looking in the UK market for a a very low milage car for around 6 months, ( UK wanted C16 spec ) His budget have moved up nearly every month but he still he cannot find a car, I would say that the car was wrong or just did not exist.
RHD 4 litre RS's trade a 400K sterling in the UK ( c16 spec ) Its not hard too see where the true market is for a CGT..

The advert was just put out. Was not an old advert. Not sure why readvertised then.

The dealer wasnt after potential customers either because he didn't take or want my friends details for any future cars.

There are 5 or 6 RS 4.0 for sale for around 250k GBP in UK.LHD but is RHD really worth almost double?

The max price advertised for a rhd 4.0 has been 350K. Did it sell at that price with LHD available for 250?

I can assure you the ADA car is 18 months old, he mainly deals in mini's and bmw's, he never had this car, he advitised it as a broker, this practise is well known. RS 4 litres I'm afraid are starting prices of 350 for RHD drive cars and yes several have sold for that amount and 2 for upper 3.. The UK market has alway's paid a substantial premium for C16 cars, and always will. Coming back to CGT you can see why the UK cars are looking cheap when 4.0 are 400k..
Another world record is a 993 GT2 ( again C16 RHD ) I understand has traded at 800 GBP, low milage perfect car thou..

Someone recently posted on the pricing thread a two year old ad.

Most people selling these type of cars in the UK are brokers. I had not heard of this dealer before but he does have a Ferrari California, Aston Martin DBS, Bentleys and a C63 listed on his site.

I take your point that if a 997 Porsche is trading at 350 to 400 it makes a cgt look cheap.

My point merely is that we are paying far too much for a CGT in the UK when they are available for cheaper elsewhere in the world including the US and Europe. And all are LHD anyway.

On the point of US imports I think US cars have more extensive and traceable history via the Carfax system where far more info is logged as compared to our UK hpi system. Even minor bumps and scrapes if leading to an insurance claim is recorded in the US. A UK CGT may have 200k GBP of damage but unless the car is written off it is not recorded on any system.

The rate if price increase in the past 2 months or so in the UK is not natural at all and has the signs of the market being talked up to a frenzy. We have gone from asking prices of 300 to 695 and from what you are now saying, over 700 for a black car coming up!!

Only a very brave person would actually buy at that level..

Case in point are cars still shown on websites as for sale with asking prices around 500 plus.

Some people are going to get their fingers burnt I feel.

Im not sure if they will get there fingers burnt, the CGT at 300 to 400 was madness, 550 is about right, all the time Porsche / Ferrari release super cars, Enzo 400K, La Ferrari 1 million, Porsche Carrera GT 325K, 918 650K, in ten years time the new super cars will be 1 -2 million GBP, anyone that thinks the Carrera GT will be less in ten years is living a missed dream.. If you look at the curve of every classic porsche ? ferrari the CGT still looks fantastic value for money.. The CGT will be 1 million GBP in 4 years and people will still be saying the same things, normally the people that have missed the opportunity to own one of the best super cars made.......

I completely agree and missed the F40 F50 Dino boat - allowed myself to listen to the Tulip naysayers.

959 on e-bay is listed at 2M.

Brief response tax is 20 percent in UK ( usually included in advertised price ) , the extra indicator is removed purely for aesthetics and finally that car advertised above never existed with that dealer for that price .

Thank you for the info. Do you have to pay another sales tax when you buy a used car in UK or the first owner pays it once and that's it.

No.

The VAT is only paid once when the car is new.

The advertised prices for cars is the price you pay with no extra tax on top.

In some rare cases where the VAT has not been paid for eg a company purchase the prices are quoted ex VAT ie the tax to be added on.
