The 918 Spyder is almost sold out
" Anyone in the envious position of mulling over whether to fork out the $847,975 starting price for the Porsche 918 Spyder, better make their minds up soon. As a representative of the firm has revealed the carmaker’s halo car has almost sold out.
Speaking with Automotive News, Andre Oosthuizen, VP Marketing for Porsche Cars North America, divulged that just a small number of models are yet to find buyers. Only 918 units will be built, with production to end next July.
Planned production of the plug-in hybrid hypercar is sold out until early April. That means Porsche has just two months worth of units left to sell. "

Porsche is not doing itself any favors by always announcing how close they are to "selling out" the 918. Should have kept production numbers "lower" and be sold out ages ago like the P1 and LaFerrari. Sigh...

Why.
They will sell 918 million dollars worth of cars. Ferrari and mclaren half of that. Why is that bad for porsche ?
Truth is the car is a porsche not a ferrari or a mclaren and i m glad. If i wanted that; i would buy that. The 918 is best car ever to come out of germany. Nothing to apologize about if your porsche. The cgt was ended early and look at those cars and where they are going in price and desirability

McLaren cut production on the P1 so they could sell out. At the end of the day Porsche will sell more 918's than Ferrari (La Ferrari) and McLaren (P1) combined.

Unless someone has one heck of a Ferrari collection - La Ferrari was not an option.
Mcaren will most likely produce versions of the P1 and Ferrari is thinking out loud about producing more La Ferrari's vs the usual add production while claiming it's a limited run.
Porsche tells the whole truth on day one - something to be said for that.
