It was made for these regulations.

Its original purpose was to go back to rallying, until the 959 was ready for it.

The HP of those Group B rally versions was insane, one of the reasons the series was killed.

And this one is really interesting, just by the way it was homologated.

Also, others cars were homologated as Group B. By example, the 930 and the 928 S were.

Hi,
Just got to ask if someone also heard the "rumor" that back when Porsche was testing the 959 in the north of Sweden one of the cars broke through the ice and took a swim to the bottom of a lake. Is it still there or did they pull it up?
I think I read this in Porsche Swedens magazine many years ago but can't find any info researching this now.
If this is true I'm heading up there with my swimming googles and snorkels! :-)

I can just see the ad on Canepa website in my head. Once he fishes it out, polishes it up and advertises it. I am guessing it will say something like , as new condition , "never even in the rain".....

Has the unfortunate history of being the First 959 to be Crashed on its first drive going south on the A81 Autobahn towards Singen.... The driver had to avoid a collision when it was in the high speed lane on the Autobahn and a VW came into the lane without warning (this still goes on today, i can attest to that!) it hydroplaned and crashed off the Autobahn (Both passengers walked away from this accident!):

And it was rebuilt into both a Speedster and a Cabriolet (has parts for both):

it was also meant to have a hard-top, but i guess they drew the line somewhere.....

Oh my...

Who repaired/rebuilt it?

The price isn't a little steep with that history?

I do not think this car is worth nearly half that amount. Keep in mind, 959's in severe accidents that have been repaired, sell at 1/3 of what a similar non-accident 959 sells for.... and this particular car was not repaired to original condition. Having said that, this vehicle has been offered for sale at this same price for nearly 5 years!! (although this car has traded hands several times for between $600-$1.2 million since 1990)

As to the people that repaired this car: Charlie Feustel in Heischeid Germany

Do you have close up pictures of the RDK sensors?
I would like to compare them with the 1989 928, which was the following car with this system.
