I have searched the threads for opinions on CGT lift systems, but information seems sparse. There are also hints about an improved KW system for the CGT in various postings. Most important qualities for me are system reliability and minimum interference with the CGT's other systems/appearance.

Any information or opinion much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Carlos

There is another Japanese company that specializes in lift kits called Roberu. They make a kit for the CGT as well as other exotics. You might want to investigate as well.

I've got the KW...what would you like to know?

It does as stated - lifts the car at all 4 wheels, lowers at around 25mph and it's a huge asset to the car considering just how low it really is.

1) Reliability - no issues to date?
2) Installation - my mechanic at the dealership is CGT certified, has worked on a lot of CGTs over the years, but has never installed a CGT lift system. How complex/difficult is the installation for someone otherwise very familiar with the car?

Hi, i've only had the car a month now but use it each and every time I use the car and it's been perfect. It was installed in 2012 so i'd have to say it would appear to be reliable, especially considering it's a low mileage car that hasn't done more than 3900 miles.

I do believe that they have to drill a couple of holes for the hydraulic cylinder unit.

My install is extremely tidy, no other holes for the wires and the button has been placed in the ashtray with a custom CF surround which looks lovely.

Helping lowered vehicles to avoid road clearance difficulties

KW HLS (Hydraulic Lift System) for the Porsche Carrera GT is now available. KW HLS lifts the vehicle by 20mm at the front and the rear axle.

The HLS provides additional road clearance for lowered vehicles. When expanded, a range of up to 20 mm of lift is produced, thereby helping sport cars avoid road clearance difficulties such as speed bumps, road construction, etc. This kit is designed to fit the original Porsche suspension units.

Only HLS 4 is available for the Carrera GT which can be attached to the front and rear axle and allows lifting the entire vehicle. The hydraulic cylinder unit is located on the coil over body between spring perch and spring. The advantage of a hydraulic system is that there is no compression (motion) of the extended cylinder unit (resulting in no unwanted additional suspension movement) while driving.

1. Allows cars with low ground clearance to clear obstacles more easily
2. Available as complete kit including KW coil over
3. Can be activated from inside the vehicle via a LED position control switch or by an optional remote, thereby eliminating any need for interior wiring.
4. Can be activated while driving (up to 80 km/h)

6. High-quality cylinder unit with durable aluminium construction
7. Sealed unit for corrosion and dirt resistance

I had a bad experience with KW, as I've previously detailed on this board before. I won't buy their product again.

I had the RUF system fitted 6 months ago and am very pleased with the result.

Buttons are under the dashboard but very professional looking.

The only downside to the system is the speed it takes to raise. Its about 15 secs to get approx another 40 mm of clearance, video link below

That's a very long wait! Mine takes 4-5 seconds, does all 4 corners and no need to cut into the dash - though they could have done an install into the lighter area like mine i'm sure?

No just the front lifts.

I shipped the car to RUF HQ in Pfaffenhausen and they did the install.

I think you chose where every you want the switch, I didn't mind where they put mine, looks like it belongs there in my eyes.

But saying that, compared to how quickly the nose lifts on my F40, does seem to take forever.

Couldn't agree more.

There's some very stupid money being thrown about at the moment on classics. How an F40 is double/triple the price of a CGT makes no sense to me.

Someone will get burnt eventually
