Carrera GT Crash at Fontana - 6/2/05
This is my first post on this board and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just read on the Pelican forum that there was a CGT driver & passenger that were fatally injured today at California Speedway. Apparently, this was during a Ferrari Owners Club event and this driver was doing parade laps. (Note: After this post was written, I later read that this accident was probably done during an actual run group and not a parade lap)
It saddens me to hear this news, especially in a non-competitive environment. I'm not sure of the complete facts, so I won't speculate as to what happened. However, one of the witnesses believes the car was going about 150 mph when the accident occurred. It's indeed a sad day for all car enthusiasts, especially for Porsche owners since we tend to be a tight community.
For those of you who are fortunate enough to have these cars, please drive carefully as these types of supercars can be a challenge to drive if it gets out of shape. Take care.

A couple of the other boards are reporting it was Ben. If this is true it is a huge loss. Ben was a friend to a lot of us on the board and anyone who had the privilage to meet him knows he truly was one of the nicest guys around. I pray that there is some mistake and that Ben was not involved.

Absolutely Horrible News !!!
I don't post much, but I read this forum just about everyday. And though I never met or spoke with Ben, it was obvious from his posts that he was a true enthusiast. He will be sorely missed.
Godspeed Ben
My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

i never met Ben, but felt I knew him a little through his posts. I would often read his commentary on the CGT, before and after he purchased his. I remember him questioning the whole purchase, almost pulling his depost back and ultimately going for it. I hope this is not true, as it will truly be a sad, sad event.
