It was a limited-edition, Europe-only model. 400 units were produced for the 1980 model year.

There was also a 356 model in the late 50's that was badged as a Carrera GT (racing version), or Carrera GS (street version). I think this was the first time Porsche named a car after the Mexican Carrera Panamerica race.
