I hesitate to post on this. but really you put this crap on a
forum where guys are thinking of dropping a half a mil
on a car, and the car in the post is a fiero POC. thats like
asking me why did I buy a 993 TT when I could've bought
a VW beatle for 1,500 dollars. Or why did I buy a condo in
the moutains for 300K when I could've bought a double wide
mobile home in Oklahoma for 2000 bucks on a half acre.
You just dont get it. Or mabye incapable of thinking the way
the guys here do. Its the difference between not even being
able to understand what a Rhode Scholar is and actually outthinking
a Rhode Scholar!

Yep, just sweetness, a very strange sweetness though.

And......I think he was jokingly posting this, no need to be too upset there.

I put that 'crap' on this forum because I thought it was kind of amusing and thought others might too. For starters, it's really not a very good reproduction and only vaguely resembles a real Carerra GT. And your rant not withstanding, I'm also perfectly capable of understanding the differences between a Pontiac Fiero and Carerra GT. That's kind of what makes it funny afterall isn't it?

As for the rest of your post do you have any idea how arrogant you sound? Wow! You have a Porsche and a $300K condo in the mountains. And add to that you think in ways people with VW Bugs and mobile homes simply can't comprehend? Give me a break! And do other Porsche owners a favor by remembering that modesty is a virtue.

Oh...and btw, I would guess you bought a condo in the mountains because you couldn't afford a house there.

Random since it WAS a repost, i thought it was a serious
post. Since the guys here are serious about their cars and
some guys are seriously queasy about dropping half a mil,
on this, one of the finest peices of machinery ever,
I thought you were serious, these guys cant afford to
be modest.
If you were trying to be funny maybe you should have put
it on kitcar.com. Also a smilie lets people know you are joking.
I dont recall any humurous denotations in your repost.

Oh and BTW the reason I have a condo is because I have
a small family and we go there only 5-6 times a year. A house
would be a waste. Its rented when we are not there, a huge
tax write off for us. Maybe modest people waste money- I dont.

I think you missed the point by, oh maybe a mile or two. Lighten up a bit! If anyone who is putting down their money for a CGT seriously feels "quesy" about a company making KNOCKOFF CGTs (based on a friggin fiero), then I would have to chalk them up as 'Status Owners'

"For some people, a Porsche is nothing more than a fur coat, it's something you wear, not something you drive."
-- Peter Schutz, former president of Porsche

OTHERWISE, if a true enthusiast is laying down the money, I'm all for it of course. But I seriously doubt anyone in that category would ever be offended by this.

Kurt
I may need to lighten up abit no doubt, but follow some of the
threads here, I have. I have talked to some of these guys. they
wonder if a Ford GT40 is 150k what does the extra 300K get them.
I have put myself in their shoes and tried to imagine what if with all
the choices in that price range, would I feel the same way?? you
bet, I'd be nervous too. If I was asking these questions, and sweating
abit, I dont think a fiero kitcar would be very funny.

Hey, OldGuy, I saw the CRF in your sig. Pretty nice. I ride a 125 now and was thinking about making the trendy switch to a four stroke soon. What do you think of it? How do you ride, trails or on the track? Thanks a lot...

PJ. let me tell you a sad story. I started racing as a 42 year old.
I liked it. So I bought what I thought was a real racing bike
YZ250 2 smoke. I could nver get the supsension right and I started
riding less and less. Quit racing. Then my 13 year old got too big
for his YZ85, so I bought an 04 CRF250. The FUN is back, the supension
is perfect right out of the box. i fly now over jumps that scared the
crap outta me before. I am racing again next weekend. By all means
get one and start blowing yoru comptition away. GREAT BIKE!!
This from a died in the wool yamaha guy. I have ridden an 01
02 and 03 YZF250 and its just not as good. More snappier
as Yamahas tend to be, but just not as fun!

This is outrageous. How could someone actually think they could get away with making a knock off Carrera GT. You know, this reminds me of when my Wife bit4h3s about people who buy, wear, show off, etc., fake gucci or prada bags. Shes always saying, "if you dont have the money for a real one, you shouldnt be acting like you have money by buying fake ones". I never thought to much about the prada bag stuff, but now i see why it pisses her off so much. Because of this stupid knock off GT, I think im gonna have to ask Porsche for my deposit back. Guess ill be buying the Enzo after all. Oh, and one more thing. Porsche should sue the hell out of those kit car guys. They must be breaking some sort of copyright law.
Adios Amigos.

I am one of those queasy wishy washy nervous hand wringing guys with a deposit on a CGT. I thought it was pretty funny but I have a twisted sense of humor. You guys want to know whats really funny? A friend saw a CGT knockoff driving down the street here in town and didn't know it was a knockoff. He actually thought it was the real deal. The knockoff has actually brought it to our local dealer to take pictures under the Porsche sign. The car even says Carrera Gt on it. And my friend is even a car guy and he was fooled. Holy cow!!!!
