Just found this thread. Does anyone know of a 1:43 silver 996 Coupe?
I've got a yellow C4 coupe by High Speed. Also have a white 997 C2S coupe by Welly

Has/does anybody repaint these to match their car?

Bob
Red Elva Courier (street/C-prod.—sold to finance graduate school)
Cashmere Beige 911SC Targa (375,000 miles before #2 cylinder went soft)
Arctic Silver 996.2 Carrera (102,000 miles, then IMS failure)
Black 997.2 Carrera (50,500 and counting)

just sold this one last week.....

1974 issue to only the top selling Mattel sales reps. Only 25 made and not sold to the public.

Paid $10 for it in the late 70s. Sold for $599.00!

Joanne, do you have a story on how you acquired this car? My understanding is that it came with plaque. Did you have that too? At one time, this one was valued over $1000. $600 is still pretty good.

I have a few Hotwheels P-911s in my collection, but non this rare.

Rob was at a VW Bug-In and a vendor was selling a lot of VW models, shirts, stuff etc and had a small box of misc Porsche models, maybe 10 or 12. The vendor said nobody was interested in the Porsche stuff and told Rob he could have the whole box for ten bucks!
We did not even realize what we had until we hosted the Maverick Region PCA bunch at our home in Hot Springs AR (2003). At that time we had over 1000 Porsche scale models all on display and one guy mentioned that we really had a rare hotwheels model. Didn't even know which one he was talking about!
We've been selling the collection a little at a time over the past 3-4 years and decided it was time for this one to go.

And....we knew it would sell fast at the 'buy it now' price. But it was gone in a matter of a few minutes. Could have sold it for more....but we're happy!

JoAnne -- That's a great story... Love stuff like that.

I've been searching high and low for a 1:18 scale (though i'd take another scale at this point too) of my 997.2 C4s cabriolet. Ideally black... Seems to be damn near impossible to find. (Well, for me, it HAS been impossible actually.) Any ideas...?
TIA

You know, it is amazing what the Porsche Museum Collection has in its inventory in diecast cars for sale. You might want to try emailing the Goodie Store at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta to see if they have what you are looking for. They network directly with the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart for inventory. When I was there in October they had literally hundreds of new diecast Porsches of all sorts of vintage and many models and colors of recent Porsches.
Can't hurt to ask. Seems to me like your model and color combination should be out there.
Also doesn't hurt to try the parts department at Porsche dealers around the country. They sometimes have diecast inventory in the parts department that hasn't sold. Recent models like the 997.2 may still be in stock.

Rob went to the local P dealer to see if they had any new 1/18th 911R models. The guy behind the counter just started laughing.....Rob knew why. They are all gone and are now on ebay for several hundred bucks!

As I wrote before, Minichamps makes one very close in black, in 1:43.

It is a C2 so does not have the reflective strip at the bottom of the engine lid. Also the wheels are wrong of course, but if you desire you can source a Minichamps 997 Turbo. I am fairly certain the wheels should swap fairly easily.

Other than that, you can get the 1:18 Norev which appears to be pretty spot-on aside from exterior paint. You can disassemble it and repaint it, or have someone do it.

FrenchToast, thanks again, I appreciate the suggestions-- I did try to look for these but could not actually find reliable availability and purchase options. I will have to try again.

If anyone has a lead on a Cayman R model please let me know. I've looked for a long time without success (just found this thread). Prefer Peridot but would take any color.

Thanks

I'm fairly certain the Porsche Exchange in Highland Park, IL has at least one 911R model in stock. They had one when I was there a week ago. I know for sure they'll take orders over the phone and ship, if you're really desperate for one. Give them a call, ask for Vlad in parts/accessories. Good guy.

It's a cool model and I'd love to have one but retail is $499 I think (?) and I'm not big enough of a 911R enthusiast to pony up. I did buy the $499 Cayman ClubSport though. I'm also a big GT4 fan.

Thanks!
Rob would never pay that for a modern diecast. When he saw what they are going for on ebay, he figured that they were all gone at $XXX and sellers were taking advantage of supply and demand. But it appears it was probably produced as a "instant collectible" sort of like the 1:1 model!

Now he will pay the bucks for an old Distler 356!!!

I'd say these were some pretty rare Porsche models.....

1/5th scale wind tunnel models at the Porsche Factory Museum.
