Dealer gave me Macan 2.0 to drive around today. MSRP was around $51K. I have one question for those who have driven the car. I noticed on acceleration that there was a lull (turbo lag?) and then it kicked in like a scalded cat. I don't know if this is a good thing or not. Might be hard to modulate the gas pedal? Has anyone else noticed this surge in acceleration?
Haven't noticed that in my month+ of driving the Macan. The 2.0T delivers exceptionally broad horsepower and torque curves combined with great refinement levels. Power is solid and consistently applied throughout acceleration, at least in my experience.
Same boat here also considering new 2.0T. Currently have Q5 with 2.0T and there shouldn't be too much lag at all especially with PDK. Not 100% sure but these should be the new 2.0T from across the VAG group. If so, tuning potential on these engines are exceptional. Tuning not only improves power but overall drive-ability and fuel economy (if you're not heavy footed ) I know with our Q5, it was classified as flex fuel so it could sip E85 also. Can you confirm if this is also true with the new Macan 2.0T? Thanks and looking forward to more Macan 2.0 info!!
How much should we expect off of MSRP for a 2017 stickering around 58k? There's one on a lot that is pretty close to what my SO wants.
I think you pay a premium for the instant gratification of taking delivery of a car on the lot. The dealer has had to pay for it while it sits there. So, I would say 4% off MSRP. Others may disagree.
Oops.. probably shouldn't post this link, but - it's a back to back on the diesel Cayenne vs the 2.0L Macan - and we did have it out from the dealership for about 90 minutes. I think we were the only ones in the entire crowd sucking up a free breakfast who took one for a test drive. Go figure - the rest were apparently PCA club members looking for a goodie-bag and free breakfast.
If it wasn't for the pricing.. well, I'd be more inclined toward a Macan, but when it approaches Cayenne levels similarly equipped, it just doesn't make sense to me. Then again - very little about Porsche pricing makes sense to me.
If you can stay off the options list you'll have a different result then the $20k of options that the test car you drove. Bi-Xeonon headlights in black are very cool but for $1350, I 'll keep the standard finish.
I Jeff, I'm a little late on this thread, but I just got the Macan so I reading the forums.
I was planning to get the 4 cyl, drove it, would work fine for a DD utility vehicle. But the price was more than I was willing to pay (you are a better negotiator than me!) The one I drove was 61K. I priced out what I wanted and it still came to just short of 60K, and I wasn't going for the big packages/options. I didn't even bother negotiating, I changed my plan to a used S for 5K less. Took a few month's to find one that wasn't Black, White or Silver with the options I wanted. Not many with blind side mirrors and I wouldn't buy another Truck/Van/SUV without them. I found a loaded 2016 with 6k miles on it at a dealer in North Carolina. They took my MB GLA in trade over the phone and we drove over an made the trade. It got 24MPG on the trip back, and 20 around town the last month. And I really like it. We will probable drive it to Parade in Spokane next year instead of the 911.......RJ
