Default Stupid Question Re: Locking after 30 sec.

Yes, I admit...I'm old and not techno-savvy. When washing the car (windows up, of course) and "key" in my pocket, the car locks itself after 30 sec. just like the manual says it will, yet, it seems, for no apparent reason, un-locks itself, then re-locks after another 30 sec. The car must think I'm crazy. How do I make the car stay un-locked when I want it to stay un-locked? TIA!

If you have keyless entry, just put your key inside the car somewhere and the car won't lock unless you hit the door button from inside the car with the doors closed.

If you don't have keyless entry, unlock the car and open and close one of the doors. The car won't relock itself until you hit the lock button on the key.

Have had the same thing happen, I just leave my key in the garage or house.

Also, I've. It's the keyless entry system is super sensitive. Like I'll be wiping the roof and it will go on and off. Just leave the key in the car.

Don't worry, the car can tell the key is inside the car and won't lock if you touch the doorhandles. And even if it did, just go back inside and get the 2nd key that came with the car and open it with that...

We have a couple of threads on this "when washing the car" phenomenon. The water seems to make the system super sensitive.

I thought it might be caused by my "magnetic personality"

Now, that's really funny because, when I was in the Navy, I was a Navy Nuclear Weapons Officer!
