Says the guy with the black C4S. It's actually pretty simple, always wanted a black one, love the Agate. That's the tug of war. It's tough to set aside a 25 year desire, for what you might prefer today. I'd be happy with either though.

Not to complicate things Buckfever, but since you are concerned about the regular black, and think that the metallics have less "orange peel", have you considered Jet Black Metallic?

I really tried to like the Jet Black but for sure l prefer that plain Porsche deep Black. I even like it on the older ones where it's fatigued over time.

Black is awesome, but does take a fair amount of work to keep it looking the way you would like. My guess is the level of "orange peel" in the finish is the same regardless of color...the plain black is just the least forgiving. If you search the 991 forum you'll find pics of my black car, and the depth and softness of the finish is just incredible when properly cared for. We joked about the car being "invisible," since all your eyes could focus on were the reflections of the world around it - it was that black and that deep.

If you've always dreamed of it and are willing to do the work, there is nothing like the plain black.

Thank you. I hand wash with de-ionized water to avoid spotting. micro-fiber cloths for everything. Mostly blow dry with a leaf blower, then finish with microfiber and Griot's spray on wax or speed shine. Twice a year I clay the paint, polish any imperfections, and wax with griot's best-in-show wax (carnauba.)
Regular wash takes me about 45 minutes, the full process takes me about three hours twice a year.

A couple months ago I posted a thread in this forum when I did all the cosmetic prep on my wife's new Macan delivery, lots of pics of the process.

I concur. Buckfever's 991 is drop dead gorgeous. And the wheels look the same as I ordered for my Macan S.

That's Hammer911's 991. He's helping me jump off the ledge on the Black.

Sorry for the mixup. Lovely car! I bought my last 997 cab from Stevinson imports in 2010 and had it shipped it to SoCal.

Having watched this video (especially the section showing the car raise/lower) I am convinced that:

1) PASM + air IS A MUST! (around 4:50 on the video)

2) 20/21" wheels are ARE A MUST ... if you want to look cool!
