Default can BBS E29 wheels be drilled to 5 lugs?

I need some advice please

I can buy a used set of BBS E29 wheels from a late 996 Cup car
naturally these are centrelocks wheels
centers are 0229052

but can all of these wheels be drilled to std Porsche 5 lugs?

I want to fit them on a street/track driven GT3CS but rebuilding this to centerlocks is no option as I legally can't do this on a street driven car.

I'm asking for some advice on this matter before I buy the wheels.
at the back of the wheel centre, 15 blind holes are already there, so drilling an extra 5 holes for the normal set up, will this not weaken the wheels too much

or are these 15 blind holes at the backside already the correct size for the regular wheel bolts and pattern?
and in this way drilling them through will work without reducing the wheel strength too much

thanks in advance

Hans

Check this thread, post #6;

https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...res-value.html

Supposedly, back when the 6cups were in Grand Am the race shops would send the centers to BBS Motorsport to be machined for 5-lug. It can certainly be done, the question is how safe is it? Needless to say, BBS recommends against it.

When all is said and done, with cost of cup centers, machining, prep, paint etc. how far are you from a E88 5-lug center cost wise? The E88 centers are much lighter also...

I think you are correct about pricing

any clue what E88 center gives the same offset (ET) then the original E29 0229052 centers

what I see is that the E88 I see are higher in ET is the wheel sits more inside

The answer is 0288109 if you want identical offset as the 0229052 centers. Keep in mind that the 109's uses thick lug bores so you will need longer studs. I will be happy to assist if you need more info, just PM me.
