First time at the 'ring...
5 years ago I would read about Porsches going round the ring and think "one day.. maybe"
Last weekend, with my newly minted DMSB permit A, I jumped into a 997 Cup and finished my first VLN in class Sp7! Bucket list stuff
A very cautious and careful lap in quali. Have so much to learn about this amazing track.
Was bloody hot, but dry!

It is a KMP Paddle shift system. Not the greatest out there. Misses a lot and tends to over heat..
Much better options out there.
Nice driving for your first time there.

I had two friends racing there, both in Walkenhorst GT3 Z4s. Jesse actually won the race and Matias was P6.
How did you acquire the "big" license? I assume you took the courses?
I have been going the RCN route, i.e. 3 RCN races, then get the "small" Nordschleife permit and do 3 VLN races to get the A license.

I live outside the EU so it was really complicated to come for many races or RCN
Eventually because I have a Fia international B license, I just did the Motorsport akademie course and that gave me the big license immediately. I did it the same weekend as N24
I would have preferred to do some races in slower cars just to learn the circuit a bit but the dmsb does not recognize dnfs, or you need to argue for them or something, so I did the shortcut but really it's not the best way. Your way is better, step by step
I saw the WH Bmw, beautiful car. But the MR 991 was a work of art 😍

Racing aside, you can very easily drive a CUP at the ring. Most of the private track day operators allow also race cars on slicks. like Gran Turismo days, RSR etc.

The rental companies are stupid expensive. Cheaper to race

I have a couple of friends that keep their cup cars in Adenau and drive them on the private track days in addition to racing them. I'm actually thinking about taking my cup there after this season.
The rentals are expensive but you get complete "arrive & drive" package with insurance. if you start adding up the costs and allow for some margin for the operator too, they are really not that expensive.

Second race at Nurburgring this season, a better lap in quali (15s faster than last time) despite the messy driving, traffic, forgetting where I was after Hohe Achte, and the retarded restrictors and speed limits
