read the instruction manual, read a couple posts on this forum and plant-9 as well.
I just connected it to the car through the cigarette lighter with a short extension cord (old school three prongs 6 plugs surge protector).
Set it to snowflake mode and both lights (and partial battery light) are in orange.
So, I should connect and let it charge till full and then unplug, or just leave it on and monitor may be once or twice weekly?

I just plug it in, set it to the correct mode, and forget about. It maintains the battery properly.
