Default When was the IMS design fixed by mfg?

I searched but the results are many & all over the place. Just would like to hear if/when the design was rectified? Looking at some 911 and Cayman (s).
Thank you.

The problem was finally resolved with the introduction of the 9A1 (direct fuel injection) engine for model year 2009. The Cayman S 3.4 liter engine developed 320 hp. The base 911 had a 3.6 liter engine developing 345 hp.

I would add that for track use the IMS is not so much the issue but oil starvation in the M97 and earlier M96. Much improved oiling in the 9A1. For DEs the 9A1 has been reliable. For racing applications you may want to look into what's being done in the GTB1 cars. And also the GT-4 clubsport. I recall hearing the GT-4 CS is using a deep sump but can't recall where I heard that. In PCA club racing there is a new Spec Cayman class based on the 06-08 Cayman with the M-97. I believe they can run a deeper sump and also an accusump system. Believe it's the same with Spec Boxster too.

I was instructing yesterday at BMWCCA autox and got to talk to a new owner of a yellow 08. I asked for a peek in the trunks as I transport a lot of tools/gear to events. Looked ok, I should have asked him if I could sit in it with helmet, but I have a friend a little taller than me with one & he fits so I assume ok.
