Question about resale value 718S vs 981S
Curious what the community thinks would be the better buy. I'm defining better buy by what the car will be worth in about 3 years as that is how long I usually keep cars. I know there are many variables and uncertainties but I would love to hear peoples thoughts.
Im looking at 2 cars both pre-owned very low miles. First one is a 2017 Boxster 718S original msrp 81K for about 70k and a 2014 Boxster S original msrp of 81k as well for 55k. Thanks for any input

Also, I found that 981 values went up or stabilized after the 718 was released, as sales aren't as good as expected with the latter.
As an example, I bought my 981 at retail in late 2015 and sold it for wholesale in August of 2016 for $1000 less than I paid for it.

They are different cars. You need to drive them both and decide what YOU want.
Both will lose money - don't let that guide your purchase decision. As a percentage, the older car will likely lose less in the next three years.

Then there's the 6 month plus wait to build and receive a 718 Cayman as part of the factory is committed to the Mission E. This will make the 718 C a rare bird and prices staying high, IMO.
Personally I'd go for the 2014, as I currently drive, as I like GOOD DEALS on Porsches and that may be one. I've driven a 718 S and it's a great car but didn't appreciate, in the aforementioned case, a $15K difference in the experience. The 2014's are GREAT cars. Snap it up! Summer's coming!
