Default Brake pads for '06 Cayman S?

Need to replace the brake pads on the new to me 987. Need street pads and also curious to hear recommendations for a track pad, have always like PFC race pads in the past.

Thanks!

Believe it or not, the stock factory pads are really good street pads for that car. I even used them for autocrossing with my old '06 CS (autocrossing won't get the brakes hot enough for track pads).

For track pads, the Pagid Yellow RS29s worked well for me.

Thanks, the PPI showed brake pads were 4 - 5 mm so I will add stock pads to my Suncoast order of the GT3 brake ducts.

^ Did you do the GT3 shifter? Please follow up and let us know which pads you end up buying, as I'd like to be ready when I need to change mine.

i use hawk hps when i did mine. very good street pad and can handle light track duty. btw i did not reinstall the vibration dampers. they contradict the concept of a racing caliper; you should e able to change pads at the track without removing the caliper. no issues, just use brake lube on the back side of the pad where it comes in contact with the pistons. the porsche procedure say do not lube, but that is so you can stick on the stupid dampers. no extra sequel or noise at all.

Go to your local dealer for the GT3 brake ducts, they'll probably be cheaper.

I'm using Ferodo ds2500 pads for my '07 that's used for spirited canyon carving and will be tracking it about several times this year. The pads work great, even better with new slotted rotors and the GT3 master cylinder.
