Default 3.8 Conversion quick pic

Just a quick pic of our 2008 Cayman 3.8 out for some break in miles. Engine has Shrick cams, IPD plenum, LN Engineering sleeves, JE pistons, Speedtech complete exhaust and Softronic tune. Very happy with the performance so far.

wait a minute, 3.8? New sleeves and pistons? Is there a thread on this car before this one? Stock crank? Oversized bearings, or stock? Need details!!

GT3 front valance? I won't ask if there is an oil cooler in there. Litronic, nice.

Stock crank/bearings, 101mm pistons/sleeves. Car will be on a dynapak hub dyno once the weather gets a little better here. We will be able to tune it on the dyno as well and see if we can get any more out of it than with the more generic tune that is in it.

Suspension is simple common mods. GT3 Control arms, H&R springs, H&R sway bars, Bilstein sports. Torsen diff.

We need a complete write up. Love the look. Did you rebuild because of mileage, or..?

Car was purchased at 24K miles with badly scored #5/6 cylinders so a rebuild was required. Thought it would be fun to put a decent motor together for it We are also building a similar 4.0 for a 997.1 S that suffered a similar fate.

Once we get the tuning finished we will put a better description of the car together and post the numbers.

Beautiful engine! Curious, are those wheels the stock Cayman R/Boxster Spyder wheels with Plastidip?

Wheels are aftermarket replicas of the Spyder/R wheels that come finished in a few different ways. They are painted with a machined area on them.

Thanks Dave,

This car was the one Joe used to make his first Cayman splitter, dive planes and diffuser. Sadly, the splitter met an untimely death on the highway the other day thanks to some debris from a truck a head of me. Joe is making me a replacement

Cheers
