Default Oil Level Sensor Failure

Got a "Check Engine" warning with a "Oil Level Sensor Failure" message. Checked the oil cap and it's tight and the seal is good. Checked the oil level a few days ago and all was good. No oil on the floor. Any thoughts/advice? 2008 Cayman Base.

Was it a bad oil level sensor?

RATS, dirty stinking rats! They chewed into three wires and through the oil level sensor wire. New wires in and all is good.

Had to replace the oil cooler rubber seal on my 911 Cab heat exchanger in the RF wheel well due to the same thing last year. Time to buy some rat poison.
