New to the Cayman world
Greeting folks,
I slummed over from the 996 world and just had my new to me 2006 S delivered the other night. It had a looong journey from San Francisco to Florida but all is well.
Stats: Cayman S with Sport Chrono Plus. Arctic Silver with black interior. I have been looking for over a year to find the right combination of options. Finding an S with Chrono and Nav was tough. It has 19 inch rims and the coolest thing to me are the self leveling bi-xenons. It also has the Numeric Racing shifter and cables which is awesome.
I have owned two 996's back to back along with a 951, 944 and 928 over the years. So far I am loving the Cayman! Most of my cars were track prepped but this one I will leave stock and just do the occasional DE.
This weekend it will get the full detail treatment. I cant wait to get a polisher on it and get it coated. Then it is off to the track in January to see how it does. I am sure it will be much different than my 996 but in a good way.

I did word that wrongly! I was trying to convey, ever so poorly, that I was from the 996 slums and stepping up to the Cayman side of the house. Sorry guys!

As a fellow 987.1 Cayman owner (and former 996 owner) I believe you will like the Cayman and will find it handles quite differently than the 996. Reflexes are more sharp. Feels smaller and lighter.
Not to knock the 996 entirely though. Compared to the Cayman I found the 996 to be athletic while maintaining a feeling of luxury and smoothness.
The Cayman is more raw and it feels like it has more capability than the 996 despite whether it is actually true or not on the track.

Hey Gator! I was on the 996 boards for quite a while too, had the speed yellow C4S with 997 GT2 nose. Anyhow, I moved on to a 996 turbo, goodbye IMS risk. Then got a fantastic deal on a low mileage 987.2 CS with rare options, quite suitable for the track as is. The Cayman is a cheetah to the 996 C4S gazelle. The turbo is a male lion. In the end, there is one that eats the others... Haha. See ya round!
