I've owned my Cayman R since new, 17k miles on her now. I do not daily drive my R, it is a weekend and track car only. In the nearly 4 years of ownership I've not had anything go wrong on my car. I change the oil often during track season and I upgraded to track pads. If something does go wrong on your R and it is not under warranty, parts and labor at the dealership can be rather high. That said, my work colleague had an E92 M3 and it was much more expensive to maintain that my R.

Cheers,
DJM
