2014/15 Cayman S MT or PDK
I am looking to get some real world opinions on the transmissions. I recently test drove the new 2015 vette PDK and the seven speed variation. In my opinion, the seven speed was way more 'fun' and felt like you had a better connection with the car. Do people find that similar with caymans as well?

Drive both and decide.

Yup, drive em both. BTW, all the reviews say the auto in the Vette sucks monkey *****, so I wouldn't use that as your standard for judging the PDK.

much closer call for auto vs manual in current porsches since the pdk is so excellent - really boils down to preference of driver involvement vs last tenths of performance on track/commuting ease
corvette c7 z06 auto vs manual choice is a joke

My answer to your question is yes! Seriously drive both and see for yourself keeping in mind the type of driving you do. I love the manual but the PDK is a great transmission.

The PDK is the second-best automatic transmission there is. PDK-S in the GT3 is the best. Not even in the same league as the 'Vette slushbox. You must drive and decide yourself.
There are some here who fear technology and would never suggest a PDK car. Others think the manual is too difficult. Only you can decide what is best for you.

I drove both at the dealer a few weeks ago, the stick is just so much more engaging to drive, if I was looking for a cruiser or a track car the PDk would be my preference, but for carving back roads I will take the stick every time

Thanks all for the feedback! Looking forward to test driving them both over the next couple of weeks...

IMO, a test drive alone isn't all that goes into it. Driving it one the streets, most will agree you're more connected and have a better driving experience. It comes down to your intended use though...
On track, the PDK is quicker, smoother, and probably the right choice, although the purist in me still likes the challenge of the perfect rev-matched downshift in the brake zone.
I love my 6MT and have always driven manual so I couldn't imagine anything else on street. But that said, I wish I bought a PDK CR instead of my 6MT CS... turns out I got bit by the track bug pretty bad, and after lots of mods it's now 80/20 track / street for me!
Bottom line... no wrong answer here, they're both awesome... each has it's pros and cons, but no matter what you choose you'll love the car.
And btw OP, the vette and cayman should never be compared again... Completely different animals!
