Question 2006 Cayman S Chrono Question

I just bought my 1st and it is a 2006 Cayman S. A buddy of mine bought one 2 months ago, same model. His Chrono stays lit (the digital numbers) even when not in use. Mine does not. Does anyone know how to make the digital numbers light up when not in use? I've read the whole book and can't find anything on it.
Thanks

Mine initially stayed lit all the time, very distracting at night, so I played around with the lower left stalk and finally got it turned off. You should be able to get it on by doing the same (in reverse).

Yeah I have tried all the scenarios that I can see and the only way even the digital numbers will light up is if it is running or stopped like lap mode
