Don't misunderstand. That's a gorgeous car and sounds like it runs great.
I bought a '11 Cayman with 17K miles that the warrant started on 1/6/12, so I had a full year of factory warranty left, bought on 12/18/14. Asked the dealer about CPO, who replied that would be an extra $3K. Maybe similar in this situation, as to whether the buyer wants to spend more money for CPO. I decided I would take my chances on the last year of warranty. Not having CPO on my car will allow a dealer to CPO it should I trade it in, since it can be CPO'ed only once.

great story and welcome to Porsche ownership. I just got a 10 Cayman a few weeks ago and although not my first P-car, it IS amazing, and is probably the best.

take the time to join PCA and go to your local events! You will meet great people, and have a blast learning how to drive your new car!

Hey ...you guys have been great and very gracious to an old first timer .... Not at all the uppity snots everyone said you were...having fun every drive...I will join the local club if you guys are any representation of Porsche owners...But I must admit that 17 year old boy from the coal fields of WVa who bought his first car a 1966 chevy II 327/375 hp does show up and show his immaturity in this new one ....after 50 yrs still have the itch !

You're SO right about the graciousness of Porsche owners.

I second the motion to join your local PCA chapter. It provides a wealth of knowledge, resources, and camaraderie. (Not to mention a parts/service discount at many Porsche dealerships.)

Coming from lesser car clubs, I expected both Porsche and BMW club members to be snooty toward a person who couldn't afford German iron until in my 60s.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Both the local BMW and Porsche clubs have been nothing but welcoming and friendly. Having participated in many local PCA and BMWCCA events, I've learned that members are much the same in any car club. Most are excited about their cars and willing to share knowledge and tales.
Of course, there are occasional snoots, but that's true in any group and any walk of life. I've learned to ignore them, as most but the other snoots do!

Get involved and increase the enjoyment and involvement with your car!

Congrats! The Cayman is truly the hidden gem in Porsche's line up, particularly pre-owned. Yes, I'll second the PCA & BMWCCA are both great.

Your post brought a smile to my face. i (65yo) bought a '11 Cayman S last Sept. Last 2 cars were Vettes but I do not like the C7 so I decided to check off an item from bucket list and am now hooked. What an automobile! Went back to 6spd and aside from having to garage it for the winter it's a blast to drive the other 9 months. Would recommend strongly joining PCA to get the most out of the car.Good Luck
