Question Cayman GT4 manual gear box

Very good news so far, BUT I've read in the new Cayman GT4 prospect that when the sport mode (dampers I guess) is "on" you engage auto rev match for downshifts. Why?!!!!!!

Anyone there with technical knowledge or inside info to tell if we'll be able to "permanently" deactivate the auto rev match?

I'm in the waiting list for the car, but if I can't get rid of this "gadget" I won't buy it.

Since GT4 shares the same transmission as GTS, I assume the electronics will be the same. If so, auto-blip is disabled when traction control is turned off.

Thanks for explaining that. I've never driven a cayman but is interested in adding the gt4. But it would be nice to be able to turn of auto blip on a car that's one of the key selling point is MT.

will either have to drive without sport mode on, or drive with traction control off.

I believe the sport button and thus the blip functionality only comes if you specify the Sport Chrono option. I could be wrong however, let me do some more digging.

I thought I read somewhere as well you need sport chrono for auto-blip.

Well, I may be wrong, the sport button with blip could be standard on the GT4

http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/ca.../sport-button/

The Sport Chrono option has a whole paragraph about the clock and racing/timing app. Nothing about auto blipping.

It seems that the Sport Chrono option it's an isolated timing tool.

I see that differently from the GTS, the GT4 has only one Sport button (not related to Sport Chrono option). The dealer told me once it's on, the auto blip is active. It seems that the only way out would be to turn ESC+TC off to get rid of the auto blip. I think I could leave with have to press an extra button every time I start the car... and probably having a big yellow warning light in the dash. I

I still don't get why Porsche choose to add the auto blip in a GT car.

most people can't heel N toe........

with GT cars on the street, it is even harder. Track no problem.

it's a sensible option for 99% of people. if you have a 7.3, you'll understand.

I find auto blipping on the street both unnecessary and difficult... When a car is at high revs on the track on the other hand it all flows well and blipping is smooth. I think autoblip is an excellent feature, as long as it is independent of TC!!

The blipper saves the synchros and gearbox on the track. All Cups have them these days.

So have we got definitive word as to if auto-blip is only present if you spec sports chrono?
