Owned a 2012 and, no differences that I know of except I think they failed in the PDK a little. Mine was a manual however so you should check with a dealer to see what if any changes were made.

I don't think there are any changes from 09-12, if there are any it's minor.

I test drove a couple of '09s before finding and buying my '11. The cars were essentially identical.

I have no doubt that some minor production changes were made; but according to my indy nothing that reduced reliability or affected the driving experience in any way.

Go test drive both right now and see which one you like more.

I don't believe they are any noticeable changes in the 987.2 life cycle.

As I age and watch friends and family become ill or pass before fulfilling their dreams; I've developed an "eat desert first" mentality.

My vote would be to get the best 987.2 that you can enjoy NOW.
Think of all the enjoyment that you'll be missing if you wait for an off-lease or used 981.

You should be able to find a nice car in your price range and then enjoy it for a couple of years after which you could trade for a newer car if you're so inclined.
