Default Oil Change

I leased a 2014 Cayman S in April 2014 and the oil change light is on. I was planning on doing the oil change at a local shop, but how do you get rid of the notification? Porsche mentioned it would be a $100 charge to reset the computer. Is this something I can do myself or I have to bring it into the dealership?

Dealership or get a Durametric setup. Is the shop you're taking it to for service a Porsche specialty shop?

I'd say check with the shop and find another if they cannot reset it for you. A small fee is expected since you are getting the oil changed there.

Resetting the service reminder is part of the routine service on the car.
We don't charge extra for this, takes all of 2 mins to complete.... Consider a different shop if your current one can't reset the light.

ask the indy shop before they service it if they can re-set the light. eg. snap on tools is pretty good at keeping their scantools up to date. although the shop may not list a re-set on the bill a charge is factored in the labor rate. when i was in the biz my [at the time] state of the art snap on scan tool had over 10k in it.one update alone was 2 grand.letting the dealer do the first service is imho is a good idea [just my opine so no flame outs please] a couple of tips will prevent you from getting a heart attack at the dealers bill.............tell them you will do the brake flush and you will replace the in cabin filter.....this can save you 300 bucks. you may still get an eye opener on the bill but hey you can brag to your friends about a 500 oil change. i get a kick out of peoples reaction when i show them a dealer bill. ironic i was self-employed in the auto/truck repair/towing. when friends ask why i have someone else work on my cars i tell them....because i can
