NEW TO ME CAYMAN R
Sold my 911 race car after many years running it on the West coast. It was originally a 930 model that over time converted to lightweight 3.2 liter track only car.
After years of trailers and trucks and track only fun I decided to get a dual purpose car and thus the Cayman R.
Ive had experience with the platform having a 2005 Boxster with 5 speed for my wife. the wife and the Boxster are gone. time to get serious lol
i found a 6 speed R with 7500 miles in paint to sample. My Dealer buddy called it Vesuvio which is a kind of metallic eggplant. It has the black wheels but just the manual leather seats. the sport seats are hard to find. just playing with the car to get the feel and so far i really like the package. I am clear bra'n the car on Friday as i dont want to deal with chips and trying to match the paint.
trying to minimize the mods as to maintain the value of the car. My only regret is that its so nice that i doubt if it will ever see wheel to wheel action which is really a shame. may have to think of a beater race car at some point.

Cayman R
the color is unique and all that have seen it in person have really liked it. The lack of sport seats was a bummer but it met my needs for everything else.
i did get a very healthy discount on the car, enough to buy sport buckets and other mods if I want. The seats in it are very comfortable and supportive. If I really track the car, Recaros will be in order but Its all good for now.

So you bought the Vesuvio CR that has been mentioned in this forum. Congrats!!
As far as sport buckets, someone posted a pair for sale on P-9 for $4,500 yesterday - best price I've seen in a long time!! Unfortunately they already seem to be gone.... After I saw your post I went on P-9 to send you the link but it's no longer there. Can't say I'm surprised though.

Nice pick-up, some of the guys on the forum were egging me on to buy the car since I have the GT3RS version of it. Enjoy in good health.

CR
My guess is that pristine models of these will hold their value quite well. Im hesitant to mod it to maintain value but I cant wait to do some track time with it to see how it compares to my past 911 track only car. I have to say that the photos dont do it justice. I think just a good alignment and sway bars will make this thing that much better. The CEO of Singer Porsches sold his GT3 to get a Cayman R and had no regrets. Can't be all that bad .LOL

In had to laugh when I read your story. Also had a Boxster 5MT for my ex-wife, both gone years ago. Now I got a CR a few weeks ago (new wife approving) and plan to mod it slightly so that I have a dual purpose car. I was lucky to get one with bucket seats and PDK (both a must for me).

Congrats - Nice car from AG.
Did you have a chance to meet the gentleman who had it on consignment there when negotiating price?
