Default Noise at ~4500 RPM

2007 Cayman S ~33000 miles.

My question as to do with a noise that occurs at approximately 4500 RPM. Sounds like really bad muffler rattle. Attempts to recreate the noise in my driveway have failed. It seems that the noise only occurs under load. Everything sounds as good as ever below 4500. I am not thinking that it is related to any sort of IMS bearing or timing chain related failure.

I am wondering if it might be related to to the variable valve timing or related control systems. I hoping that someone here can enlighten me as to what engine management systems might come into play at 4500 RPM.
