Well, my reality is that 1.5 years ago I broke my hip/femur. Fast forward to two weeks ago, I had all the steel bits removed. For the next 8 weeks all screw/bolt holes are filling in with new bone. So, for now, my leg/hip hip works perfectly but doc says don't stress it until bone fills in.

I wonder if that"s the story on this heavily tracked engine in this CS? Drive hard but don't over stress (and go boom).

Or, just limp over to the geezer home..............

The December 2013 issue of Excellence had a pretty good article about over-revs. It was written from a Porsche UK perspective but you may find it interesting. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be online anywhere.

+1

There is a fine line between "abused" and "driven hard". I wouldn't take the risk, but that's just me.

We have a deal predicated on the Porsche Dealership PPI report. I just the received the results back and the BIG concern is on the over revs. They look like this:

Range............Ignitions.............Hours...... .........Time (seconds)

1.................50,979.................... 530................ 136
2...................2627......................495. ............... 7
3....................60.........................43 2............... .15
4...................209........................432 ............... .5
5...................170........................432 ............... .35
6....................0............................ .0................ 0

I think I calculated the time correctly, but chime in if you spot an error.

The guys in the service dept. say not to worry because the range 4 & 5 were long ago and the time was very short. This seems to be in direct conflict with the over rev charts I have seen.

Any advise here? My gut tells me to walk.

Thanks in advance,

Randy
Listen to your gut.

BTW, I never do business with family or friends. I don't sell them things, I don't buy things from them, I don't borrow money from them nor do I loan them money.

Good advice. The only exception are Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies. And, keep 'em in the freezer. The cookies. Cool, tasty and refreshing.

It is normal if the car has tuned software in it...

We a fair number of cars with reports like this, all running fine with lots of hours after the over revs. However, if there are more in the higher ranges, and recently, one needs to be careful.

Cheers

I would walk on this! There are quite a few other cars out there, why take the chance?
