Can It Be True? 450-hp turbo Cayman GT4 Revealed.
My 991 C2S lease expires in 2016. Been thinking of buying it out. If a 3.8-liter turbo Cayman GT4 is in the works for 2016, I may have to wait and see. I LOVED my 2009 Cayman! Cut my teeth in a 914 back in the day, so I love mid-engine Porsches.
Please be true. Please offer a MT. Please don't be 991 money.

Im number one at my dealer for it when it comes out. Will be dedicated track car. Talking to them they believe it will be 3.8 991 S engine with the X51 power pack at 430 hp. In a lighter weight mid engine car it should be quite the track car. Should be quite competitive with the GT3. I do believe the price will be around 115K. Base with no options might be a little cheaper but probably most of them will be around that 115K mark.

While have I have zero basis to make this claim other than conjecture and sentiment, there is NO WAY they're going to put the same twin turbo 3.8L flat 6 in this car that's in a 997.2 turbo or a 991 turbo. Won't happen!

Because it won't fit? Cannibalism? In your view since you deal with a lot of caymans, how many horses does the Cana need to perform on par with the 991 gt3 given it has a weight advantage and being a mid engine car?

I'm also on the list for the GT4, and from the various rumors the one that seems most likely to me it the 911S motor, but without the powerkit. So essentially a 400hp. I do think it will have the PDK-S of the GT3, and that's the transmission I want, so I don't have an opinion on the odds of a manual also being available. I also think some of the GT3 suspension bits will make it to GT4 but I do not think we'll get rear-wheel-steering. Being the Cayman is mid-engined already, I don't think it will need it.
As for price, I'm guessing it will start somewhere between the upper 80k to upper 90k USD range with an easy path to 6 figures with some options.
If I'm going to go all-in with my preferred rumors I'll also bet it will break cover at Geneva next year and be on sale in the fall of 2015 as a 2016 model.
There are a few GT4 related threads in the 991 GT3 section as well if you guys are interested.

The most reliable rumors I've read have the GT4 debuting Porsche's new turbo flat-four, making about 400hp. It makes a lot of sense, especially with Porsche launching flagships with new technology (Turbo S, Macan Turbo, etc.). Don't count on it being a big-bore flat-six...

Head over to planet-9 where they started an open wish/no wish letter to Porsche on this GT4. Power from 380 - 450 hp. MT vs PDK-S. $s from 80 - 100+. Some want it as a DD with very limited track duty, others as track mainly. The stuff is all over the place - no way that car would qualify under all those conflicts

if DD, the GTS is as good as it gets.

1) are rumors reliable?
2) I'd bet money on 400 hp plus or minus 20 hp, not that I know anything or anyone! but seems reasonable a Carrera S could be at 420 to 430 hp, so the marketing gurus could still "position" GT4 below Carrera S
3) makes a lot more sense for this variant to be no frills, track oriented
otherwise, as Mooty says, get a GTS

Hey, pardon me for passing on what I've heard/read/etc. I called them rumors because I don't know for sure (as does no one else outside the factory). There are several videos posted of Caymans running turbo four-cylinders, so the "rumor" is certainly plausible.
Given that I'm going to buy whatever the GT4 turns out to be, I don't mind if it's a big-bore six, turbo four, etc. It's all about the drive.

Heck, even keep it at 350hp for all I care (so 991S cars&coffee folks still have something to brag about) but add CF, titanium lightness, monster suspension (coilovers?), gut unessential interior, keep it MT (for lightness). Make it 2500lbs, $80k. I'm in.

The turbo-4 one is either a mule for the 981.2 refresh or it's a 981 body being used to hide the guts of the upcoming (rumored) 718.
The one with the big spoiler and aggressive bodywork... That's what we're all hoping is the GT4. A lot of debate going on over what the exact guts are underneath, but if it arrives looking like the mule, it's at least got that going for it!
