There's a similar thread in either the 996 or 997 section that contains a lot of good general info.

You should search for this thread and read the posts.

Of course you need a good plug change DIY write up for your car in case there are any particulars.

Here's the thread title in the 996 forum:

Theres a DIY the other cayman/boxster website. I'll tell you right now. 4 of the 6 are easy. the 2 closest to the front of the car are a pain in the a$$!

Tip: do not re-tighten the plastic nut too tight.

Sorry I saw this so late, Jim. It's a straightforward job. I did it last year. If you need help give me a call or email. Brad

Brad,
I was intimidated by it and paid Parktown to do it. But I do have a set of headers sitting in my garage that I plan to install.

I dont recall mine taking me more than 45 min to change.....a hell of a lot easier than changing all 12 on the 993!

Headers are easy too. I used a pit and took the rear wheels off for easier access. Was pretty quick and straitforward.

Question Which one?

For the base 2.7 Cayman I found two plugs listed. 1) Are these correct? 2) Anyone have a preference over one or the other? 3) Which one does the dealer use? Using "search" I really couldn't find an answer and this info isn't in the owner's manual. Thank you.

My '06 Cayman S (3.4) came with Bosch plugs from the factory, and that is what I replaced them with. I've seen NGK plugs listed alongside Bosch on parts websites, so they should be fine too.

You could ask a Porsche dealer and see which plug they recommend.

Thank you. I did learn after checking a couple other Porsche forums that the Bosch plug I listed is the OE plug.

Bosch is the OEM plug. I've seen both Bosch FGR5NQE04 and W0133-1967093. Does anyone know which applies to the 981 2liter TIA dlb

I changed my plugs when I replaced the original coils on my 06 S last year after I bought it. My suggestion is get the extended socket tool, a swivel adaptor for the socket wrench, and I actually used a 2 ft extension which gave me much more room to turn the socket handle. Once I figured out the tools to use, it took about 45 minutes to change all the plugs and coils. 3 of my 6 coils were cracked.
