Default Put deposit on Cayman S this evening

It's about time to replace our C32 so what could complement the X50 and Cayenne more than a Cayman S?

The wait begins.

Think it would make a great complement.......you may have to get a Boxster to complete the set.

Your late though......had my deposit down Sept '04......always wanted to be first on the list for something........well this is it......

From what I have seen and heard......Europe will see it before years end, but the US quite possibly won't see it until early 2006......

All about marketing... now we are all sooo excited about this new car. In the end it is a Boxster S with a roof (and a few more HPs). If Porsche would annouce it as a Boxster Coupe do you think the hysteria would be the same?

Not only are the engineers good at Porsche, they have good marketing guys as well

I don't know about that......yes, I'm excited about the Cayman, but I have also been seriously turned off by Porsches naming, marketing, and pricing structure of it......so much so that I have also placed a deposit on the upcoming BMW E90 M3. If the Cayman isn't exactly what I'm looking for I'll pass on it and wait a year or two for the nice 400HP M3......either way I can't lose.

People have been waiting and wanting this this car for a long time.......and I still (and always will) think of it as a Boxster coupe. I didn't need the stupid website with the crocs, nor the rediculous (an costly) mailing sent out on it. I wish they would have spent the money on the cars content instead or reduced the pricing to where it should be.....that would have made me a lot more interested.......

I will agree though that lately Porsche engineers are as good as their marketing guys.......the engineers have the RMS problem and the marketing guys have the Cayman.......both pretty lame IMO......

Mike, I feel you pain. Somehow I just can't see my next car saying "Cayman" across the rear. Also don't like the fact that it is/looks like nothing more than a Boxster coupe...even though they claim it isn't. In the end, if the Cayman is priced b/t the 987S and 997 then I will opt for the 997. Just sitting here patiently waiting for the release.

Boxster C or Boxster Coupe would have been a much better choice

What's wrong with the word Cayman? A name from the anomal kingdom like Viper, Mustang, Pantera, Countach etc etc.

Default animal names

I prefer the more common spelling Caiman. When I see that I think narrow-jaw crocodile. When I see Cayman I think Cayman Islands (rich, fat, obscene American tourists in the Carribean)

Countach an animal?? Nope, it's Piedmontese slang for 'holy sh-t' or 'omigod' or 'what the heck is that'.
