I don't think they do, they have the sensors.
So I'm driving the car around today, it's POURING, and some deeper water...
I about home and I hear what sounds to me like something lightly scraping a brake rotor.
Brake pads have about 7mm left, lights not on (they are close tho)
Coming from front left.
Changes with speed. In gear or not.
does not change with braking.
in reverse doesn't make noise
WILL Change if a sharp right or left turn is made
And it seems to have lessened as i've driven it a bit more
I think the puddles kicked a branch or something up in there, but can't see anything turning wheels full left and right. And I really don't feel like pulling a wheel...
Ugh.

Just changed my brakes last weekend; 958s do not have metal 'squeal' indicators (and my pads had less than 4mm of material left and none of the sensors were yet breached). Check to see if you have a stone between a pad and the rotor before it scores the rotor too badly.

This used to happen on one model of BMW (E36) - the cure was one of two things:
1. Lay down on the ground and reach behind the wheel, find the splash-guard and wiggle it as much as possible until the stone falls out.
If that fails to work:
2. Reverse quickly with vigor. Hit brakes rapidly. Repeat as necessary.
Never had to take a wheel off. Might work on your Cayenne.

I tried #2 already. Didn't don much. Noise is mostly subside. Sure I have a nice groove on inner rotor now :-)
