Good of you to trust your gut instinct. also wise to wait for the perfect one, I bet you are going to have this vehicle for a while.
I have driven so many cars since buying my Cayenne and nothing is the comprehensive work of engineering and luxury, I know I wont be happy getting rid of it even if it is for a 610hp w12 Bentley Continental GT I would know that in my mind I would immediately be trying to acquire a newer Cayenne.
I made several investments into mine this year Valve body, coils/plugs, the 22" replica rims and my favorite; ceramic brakes all the way around. The 3 ton vehicle never squeaks rolling up to a stop and before I used to have to clean the rims daily while now the black rims always look like they had just been cleaned.
I only got to put 50 miles on it driving it out to storage with the new brakes and transmission work, it was a bit of a shame but in 2 months I'll bring it back out of hibernation and I will be all set!

If you want a nice 04 S, you should look at mine. http://www.zipbang.com/cayennes/index.html
Higher miles, but well taken care off and in great shape.

Good to trust your gut and walk away--TONS of Cayenne S cars out there. As for my thus-far elusive Turbo, I'm going to settle in for the long haul and wait for the right one. Dealers seem to think these cars are worth anywhere from $8-15K more than input here on the board, and I'm just flat unwilling to spend more than $25K on one, so I'll wait.
Keep us posted on your search!

I found an 04 CTT (see, i'm getting the lingo now :-)) for 10.5k with 82k on the clock. According to Carfax the following work was done:
at 73k, engine mounts replaced and camshaft position sensor replaced
VIN WP1AC29P14LA92424

I sold an 04 CTT with 80k miles last year for a friend for $14.5 in Seattle (and it took 2 months to sell). Theres a bunch of Turbos up here that have been for sale for awhile, but after adding in a flight+driving/shipping, youre in another grand (whether or not it works out).
you can find them up here for $12-15k pretty consistently...

I'm confused by one thing. The car the OP went to look at had 37k miles but the headliner was sagging and the seats had heavy creases.
My car has 116k miles on it and looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Seems odd.

Yeah, that what turned me off. I guess leaving it outside might cause the headliner to detach in the Texas heat. The whole "little old lady" who owned it story from the dealer didn't jive with how worn the seats were. Unless she wasn't so little.
