2014 Cayenne GTS Front Brakes
Hey everyone, looking for a few pieces of info so I can do the front brakes on my wife's cayenne.
1 what are the torque specs for the two caliper bolts?
2 what is the minimum thickness specified for the rotors?
Cheers

Thanks all. You're probably right about getting the new rotors. Safer too.
Thanks for the specs on the bolts. I would guess it's NM. On the Audi RS4 we have the caliper bolts are 200NM.
I have the hardware ordered, just need to add the rotors and I'm good to go.

Since your GTS probably has the 19" (390mm) rotors (red calipers?) - wait until you see the price on them. Only available from Porsche, or places that sell Porsche OE parts. I chose to reuse mine - the lip was minimal and the rotors were a few mm above minimum.
I remember the old days - when rotors were never really replaced - just slap new pads on and wait for them to wear to conform to the rotor.. (we're talking '60's Volvos..)

Those rotors are not that bad price wise et a set of Zimmerman' and some Pagid pads and you're good to go.

I had a hard time finding this on the forums and could not read the spec on my existing rotors:
958 GTS FRONT rotor min thickness: 34 mm. (new is 36mm). At 74K miles, my rotors are at 35.3mm and since I'm changing the pads, I've got the while "I'm there mentality"....

Happily since the last message in the thread before you revived it was from 2016 - you'll be happy to know there are more rotors available for the GTS and Turbo, and Porsche dropped the price on their precious rotors to darn near reasonable. Sounds as if you still have about 50,000 miles more wear in those rotors until they meet minimum spec.

Thanks Don- I had plenty of life left in the rotors but I had already purchased an aftermarket pair which were taking up valuable garage space. Also, I believe you had recommended previously the Porsche/VW caliper tool "Assembly Pin part# V03839124NB" this is an ingenious and simple design that safely suspends the caliper. It's a must have tool to move these massive calipers out of the way when changing pads/rotors. Thank you for your contribution to these forums!
