Default 2009 GTS Reliability

Looking to trade in my 2004 Range Rover for a 2009 GTS with 60k miles.
From what I have heard these cars are pretty reliable.
Any input is appreciated.
Thank you

I bought a 75K '08 GTS 6-speed about 5K miles ago and 6 months. She is still CPO. Starter replaced free. That's about it. No issues here. I'd go for it if she's been well cared for.

Mine is an 09 that wasn't so well taken care of. I't has less then 50K on it which made it attractive to me.
I had a major oil leak, and a bad starter, both a pretty penny to fix, but both where covered under my warranty.
I think anytime you but a gently used car you are going to have some issues until you get it sorted.
It sure is a joy to drive!!

We've had 8 unscheduled visits in 16 months and were never told anything was unusual.

At that mileage, you will probably need to plan for a thermostat replacement. The thermostats on these engines like to fail in the "open" position so the engine runs fine but will throw a code due to being slow to warm-up.

With the thermostat comes the water pump, vent pipe and plastic coolant tube that connects the front-rear of the engine. At the dealer it will run about $1000 - $1200.

Also should plan on a battery if not already done. At the dealer it will be ~$500

The RR will quickly be a distant memory once you drive the GTS

Ah yes, exactly as you described. Thermostat forced the CEL for emissions because warm-up is less efficient. So I pretty much did all the preventive you’ve described while they were in there. This was on my 09 CTTS, and dealer cost was more like $2100. Perhaps because there's more stuff involved with a turbo - or maybe Stead ripped me off?

We bought our '09 GTS 14 months ago..........traded a Jeep Grand Cherokee; no worries or regrets at all

We've added approx. 40k kms and have done basic maintenance (engine oil/filter, spark plugs, air filters, wiper blades) .

I did the work myself so I am a poor source for costs. Upon calculation, about $700 in parts and a day's labor at $150/hr + misc. puts it close to your $2,100 tab.

Good catch.

With 55K mi. and owned just a few months, the previous owner replaced the thermostat, rear hatch struts and battery.

Since the repair history was supplied by the servicing dealer there may have been other parts replaced associated with this work. The serpentine belt appears new.
