Yes, the light assembly comes out. Remove the two screws visible with the hatch open, and then carefully pull the light out. There is a ball socket holding the outer portion of the light into the body.

It's in the owner's manual. Page 335 in my 05 CTT book.
None of the interior needs to come out. Just open the hatch.
The two screws are hiding under round caps. The ball socket will break if you take the housing out more than a couple times. They are available for a couple bucks (ECS has them).
