Like I stated in my "New Guy" post.... I purchased a 2004 Cayenne Turbo last Friday... On Saturday the Kessey System and Main Key stopped working... It starts the car but the doors and trunk glass don't work...

I odered a new key and a dummy key... It came in today... While at the dealer, I asked them to program the new key... Their scan tool couldn't communicate with the key to program it?

Naturally when I put the dummy key in , it turns but I get an error message that states that key cannot be read.

Didn't they have any ideas (being the experts and having the advantage of having Porsche diagnostics hooked up to the car)?

It sounds like a KESSY issue so I`d be looking there but, to clarify, although you get error various messages the car starts and stays running?

If so the transponder in the key is programmed correctly, otherwise in my experience the car would start and then stop again within a few seconds once it realized the transponder was incorrect

I have a Duramatic , going to try that tonight.

The old key starts the car and it runs fine... But does not lock -unlock doors or trunk.... It did until I left the key in the car -IN THE CONSOLE- overnight...

And I have put a new battery in it...

You bought the resisters and mosfets and re-soldered your KESSEY unit that fast?!?

Oh, damn... No....Many attempted fixes have been made.. But I have not done that, yet.

Unfortunately that is the only thing that will fix it, unless you want to buy a new module and get the dealer to re-program it.

Trust me, I have been dealing with KESSEY issues since I got my Cayenne 4yrs+ ago.

Thought....

So I just went out to the garage, had the key in my pocket, pressed the lock button on the outside drivers door.... Noticed thru the window that the dash that the, "shift vehicle to P" came on!

Could it be that once I fix the other piece in the shifter, (shift gate trim piece), that the doors will lock / unlock again? I mean, maybe it won't lock/unlock because it thinks it is in gear??

Under the dash, remove the kick panel and look for this picture:

It is the module to the right of the red connector, it just clips into place.

That I am not sure so I can't comment. I have never had the shifter problem. I would fix that first and re-assess.
