Default Car wont start - Key Code Issue Maybe?

All help appreciated.

I have a 2003 Cayenne Turbo.

Few things to note;
- I replaced Battery few months ago
- Car has been standing unused for about 6 weeks or so
- I replaced battery on remote keys about 6 months ago
- It has the Porsche Entry and Drive system (plastic key permanently in ignition), recognises key when near, open door without key etc..
- My car alarm may have been going off by itself over this 6 week period!
- I've out a trickle charger on the battery terminals - The battery is fully charged.
- I did removed the Porsche Entry and drive plastic key from the car as I had heard this can discharge the battery as its constantly looking for a signal knowing I wasnt going to use the car for a bit

Issue;
- When I tried remote key doors didnt open nor did it by pulling door handle for Porsche Entry and Drive
- I opened door manually with key
- Tried to start car

The dashboard did light up but the entry didnt even fire, no peep, not even a murmur?

Tried turning key fully to left and holding and trying again but still nothing.

Car doesnt lock or unlock with remote key even with plastic Porsche Entry and Drive key left in.

Can only give a suggestion as to what might be faulty or how I resolve.
- Could the keys have become decoded?
- Could there be problems with Alarm / Immobilser?
- Could it simply be a fuse out?

All help appreciated - Many Thanks

PS - I dont have a code reader or such to plug in

One of the keys that came with my car went "bad" and is somehow broken. I don't have the Entry & Drive.

Even with a fresh battery (switched out one from a working key) it won't unlock the doors.

If I put it in the ignition, I get an "Immobiliser Active" message on the dash.

A quick search when I came across this seems to indicate that the transponder in the key fob has gone bad and the car won't recognize it.
My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that the keys don't "Lose" the code, they actually go bad, as in the circuit failing, and need to be replaced.

Do you have another remote to try?

I have two keys. I think I have tried them both.

And believe it or not I have had the Immobilizer Active warning in past and intermittent issues with the key fob only opening one of the doors and sometimes the key not being recognised for entry and drive and also the doors just opening again when I press key fob to lock 'em.

Not sure if this is related as has been going on for sometime now on and off.

Anyone have a resolution / ideas?

Well, my opinion would be that your remotes are going bad. Keep in mind they are 12 years old.

My understanding (based on searching through posts on here) is that the circuit board in the remote fails.

It's not something that is considered "fixable."

But I plan on taking my bad remote apart and seeing what's up in there. If it's just a solder joint break or a board trace crack, I may try to fix it. I can't "More break" it.

Hi! Have you gotten a solution to your problem as yet? If so, please share. I am considering a 2004 Cayenne (V6) and i am curious about anything to do with them.

Cheers!

This maybe the case - but would this really happen with both remotes at same time??

I guess Porsche would need to provide new key and would be expensive

Could it be something else.

I have a mechanic friend coming at weekend to do a few basic electrical tests will post up any findings.

Otherwise - Any other suggestions?

Have you considered disconnecting the trickle charger, and then disconnect the ground cable from the starter battery. wait a few seconds, reconnect the ground cable. Wait a few minutes and then give it a go. Maybe, the authorization system and/or other onboard computers need to reboot and resync with each other. Stranger things have happened

Good luck.
