Considering a CTT that needs O2 Sensors replaced..
Hey Guys,
I found an 04 Cayenne Turbo that has had lots of stuff replaced within the past 2 years:
New tires
New brakes
New coolant pipe kit (2 years ago w/ receipts)
New battery
New waterpump
New air filter
New starter
New belt
New thermostat
He has the O2 sensors but hasn't had them put in yet and the car has a Check Engine Light on....he said there are two codes: P1145 and P1431 for the brake boost.
Obviously i'd get a PPI on this thing if I could make a deal with him, but just curious, (and it may be impossible to tell without seeing it or having a mechanic look at it), but if all this thing really needs is some O2 sensors replaced, what type of bill am I looking at roughly?
thanks
Jason

Oxygen sensors are pretty easy to replace. I would be surprised if you were charged more than 2 hours labor to replace them unless the Cayenne has them in hard to reach areas. I have never replaced a set of O2 sensors on a Cayenne so speaking on previous experiences with other cars.
Sounds like the SUV has been well maintained. How many miles?

Your post sparked my curiosity on the O2 sensors for the Cayenne -- because of their locations, its definitely not a simple job. I thought it seemed odd the seller wouldn't fix these before selling, now I know why, as it could be a potential big bill. Hope this helps.

It's got about 110k miles, asking 16 said he would take 14.. Haven't taken a look at it yet. Not sure if he had the coils or plugs yet..just seems like a lot has been done to it, he has the o2 sensors just hasn't put them in, strange that he hasn't had those done, maybe sick of burying money into the car..still sounds like a decent deal if the PPI comes back ok and it just needs sensors right?

You might need to drop the engine to change the primary O2 sensors, it is almost impossible to get to them as the bolts on the downpipes tend to be rusty and the only way to get to the upper ones is via some flexible extension. Just google an image of TT downpipes and imagine loosening the top bolts through a hole fit maybe for a child's hand.
Or get a gyneacologist do the job as my indy suggested we ended up dropping the engine as I went with bigger turbos etc, not just catless downpipes.

I'm having all 4 cat sensors replaced as part of my preventative maintenance plan next week since they are 11 years old and 190,000 km used.
Porsche service advisor didn't mention dropping the engine.

I wish there was some DIY walk-through with pictures and/or a YouTube video showing how a DIY home mechanic could do this. I got quoted from an Indy shop $3350 to replace all 4. No way no thanks. I've got to figure out a way. Just looks like so much more of a PITA than any other vehicle I've had in the past. Thanks Porsche for placing them there lol
