Default Do dealers think we are that naive?

I'm seeing this more and more where dealers will re-sale a very low mileage "pre-owned" Porsche for more than MSRP. Below is a good example. Are buyers really that naive?

MSRP on this GTS is $84,295. Dealer is asking almost $100k!!

Yes people are that naive...dealers figure people will pay premium until people do otherwise...call them on their BS and move on!

If you want a newish V8 Cayenne GTS, there are not many around. What we feared happening to Porsche with VW acquiring them is happening even as we speak. Maybe it's progress but the legacy cars are going to a premium vs. the de-contented cars. Particularly with gas under $3!

Are all those options really $0 each?

I can walk into my local Porsche dealer and order a base GTS like this one and still be 15k ahead and thats before negotiations.

Yes dealers do,think we are naive. However, I don't think those option prices are correct - you can't even build a 2014 on the Porsche website anymore. That paint color alone is over $3k if I'm not mistaken.

I don't believe it's that out of line. The option pricing is missing. GTS red is $3500, Pano roof is $3900, and so on. This is really a new vehicle but Colorado may require them to call it used if it was a demo or loaner, but still, 350 miles.

Yeah those options aren't "free". By the looks of it the Premium Plus package price is what is missing, but I don't remember the price. Also the roof rails and tow package aren't in a package or standard (I expect that blacking out the rails doesn't cost extra on the GTS since it's trim is already black, but not positive).

As far as dealers thinking their customers are naive, yes. Sadly, for the most part, they are correct which is why they can get away with $400+ oil changes...

MSRP on that car was $104k and was put into service 8/2014. It's basically new.

I've seen this done with specials or limited editions. The mfr demands that the new cars are not sold at outrageous prices to avoid dealer gouging and the subsequent hit to the mfr reputation.

So, what does the dealer do? He sells the car to a "friend" for a short while then the friend sells it back. The dealer can then CPO the car and sell it as used while charging whatever he wants.

Legal, yes. Ethical, debatable.

its not just Cayenes!

I see lots of auctions that I get emails from ebay that people are trying to sell items over MSRP. Sometime 2x! I don't know if they are actually dealers or people that go to the dealer, buy the item, and then try to sell it on ebay.

I think it would be smarter to sell it on ebay and then buy it from the dealer…

I can't believe anyone is actually buying this stuff (wood working tools).

Are most of us still dealing with nagging hesitation on our 955's (Mind you that most of these are now 10+ years old..)? Clearly, dealerships and the OEM has no feelings for us...only our $$$$$$!

Maybe everyone feels like ranting? Whatever ...

But this dealer is not charging over MSRP on this car. This car (I pulled the build sheet based on VIN) was at $105k GTS. They're asking 100k. That's under MSRP.

How is it high? probably, but they do have a "make offer" button on the ebay listing.

That list of the build posted above is not accurate to the MSRP of the car.

The car also has 12mi on it.

Am I missing something here? Their ad say it has 154 miles yet the photos they post show 12 miles and they are listing it as a pre-owned vehicle.
