2014 GTS or wait for 2015 Cayenne S
I am thinking of buying a 2014 Cayenne GTS (either black/black wheels or white black wheels) but am not sure if I should wait for the 2015's and go with the S. The changes do not seem extreme but I wonder what the resale value for the 2014's will be like with the new 2015's hit. Thoughts?

There are some good deals to be had on 13 and 14 GTS's. I don't see enough improvement in looks, jazz or performance in the refresh to make me want to wait, if I were in the market. The song and grunt of the 4.8 L V8 are very sweet, and the 14 may be the last one. Based on the performance and mpg ratings of the 3.6L V6 bi-Turbo in the Macan, its hard to expect any better mpg or performance out of the 15 S compared to the 14 GTS. So why wait for a 15 S? I would go for a really low mileage 13 or new 14, if in that market. JMHO...
Oh, and I would choose a red or white one because I don't like being a slave to a black car needing constant dusting and washing. I owned a Black German Spec 944 for too many cleanings, and swore I would never own another black car.

As most have pointed out, a big part of the decision is whether you like an n/a v8 or a turbo 6. The advantages of the v8 are sound and throttle response. If you think you'll be wanting to modify for more power, you'll probably want the 6. I will not be surprised to hear that chipped Cayenne S with the turbo 6 are making 500hp. One more thing to consider, I imagine optioning a '15 S to '14 GTS specs will cost you significantly more. Other than the engine, the 15 doesn't seem different enough to warrant having.
If you want to get an idea of resale value of the 14 vs 15, look at the 955 vs 957. The 957 face-lift did almost nothing to 955 values.

I would rather have a V8 than the new Turbo V6, because the V8 is tried and true. However I could not find a S or GTS optioned the way I wanted. Roof rails,Trailer hitch, Heated steering wheel, air susp a must.
There was a GTS at my dealer that I could of lived with but the MSRP was $106k. I don't want tires over 19" we have snow here and lots of it. So changing to winter tires is a big pain. I do that now for my 997 and don't have more storage room. By ordering a 2015 I got exactly what I want Air Susp,PTV, PDCC $92k MSRP. Still outrageous and I have to wait till Xmas but at least I will not have settled.

FWIW, we have a 2013 GTS. I generally dislike SUVs, but this is one very nice machine. The V8 is one truly nice motor. It also has a good track record. I am sure the turbo V6 will be great too, but I have always preferred a normally aspriated engine. The V8 was maintained in the facelifted Panamera GTS, so maybe it will also persevere in the next Cayenne GTS, but that is not certain. If it does not, then this recent generation of GTS will be somewhat special, and resale value may be stronger.
Aside from the engines, the relative updates in the facelift are minor. The new rear looks better, but I think the outgoing Turbo/GTS front is actually a little more interesting (all personal preference though).
My vote would be a 2014 GTS.

My retirement budget is a bit more limited, so for my next Cayenne I'll be hunting a 2011+ V8 Turbo.

One nice plus with the 2015 S or GTS is knowing you can later substantially uprate the power with a re-tune and cat back pipes. That should make up for the lack of the V8 in the 2015 S and GTS.

comes on at 1350 rpm and is as flat as a table top. So the area under that curve is just more. Physics you know! I drove a launch car and turbo lag was not even noticeable. My only complaint was the engine was to quiet even with the window rolled down. If the new engine holds together I'm glad I got the 2015, should be at the dealer early next week. WaHoo

Tried 14 GTS and ended up going with 15S launch car. The new front lights and rear end does look better. And while the v8 had more of a growl, felt slower than the turbo 6. It should outperform.
