No, the Lexus hybrid isn't a better car for saving gas than a diesel. Around town and driving slowly, sure. But for real, normal driving, no. The real world numbers of the CD are far better than any hybrid SUV out there and close to some of the sedans; they're only a couple mpg short of my wife's E320 Bluetec, even.
